JEDDAH, 14 November 2003 — The Kingdom yesterday denied it planned a meeting between Crown Prince Abdullah, deputy premier and commander of the National Guard, and a group of ulema in an attempt to avert terrorist attacks and open channels of dialogue with the terrorists.

The Saudi Press Agency quoted an official source as saying such reports were unfounded.

“An official source has described such reports as totally baseless. The source said there was no intention whatsoever to seek dialogue with any terrorists,” SPA said.

The source said the crown prince had clearly stated the government’s determination to battle terrorism until it was uprooted. He said those wanted in connection with terrorist acts and who feel remorse for the horrible crimes they committed must “unconditionally surrender” to security forces.
