CAIRO, Egypt (AP) -- Following is the text from an audiotape purportedly from Saddam Hussein that was played on Arabic television stations Thursday and translated from Arabic by The Associated Press:

The last chain of aggression and evil was led by Zionism. America and Britain and their (Arab) collaborators also performed a vicious duty (in the war).

What will they say to their people and to mankind? What will the chorus of lies say to those that backed them? What will they say to the world after they devised the scenario of lies against Iraq's people, leadership and culture?

The lies were known to the U.S. president and the British prime minister when they decided to launch a war and aggression. They were not tricked like Zionism and they are trying paint the picture to save themselves and put the blame on others.

What will we tell the world? Like we said in a previous message and are saying now. What will the Arab officials say, if they are alive or dead? Some beat their drums with the drummer and aggressed with the aggressors and criminals. But we, oh great people, the children of our nation, all we can say is God is our protector. We say God is great. The word of honor that we pledge to God, our nation and our people, even if the infidels hate it.

Oh believers in our heroic armed forces ... it is a new honorable phase to mobilize a new honorable fervor tailored along the justice and faith achieved by the July (Baath) revolution which set off its victorious march.

He who sneaks into what he does not deserve alters the true relationship between the ideology and right implementation. Those who carry honor up high.

It is a new phase to purge oneself of flaws of power ... It is an opportunity for a great experiment for putting matters that might have shifted in any way in their proper perspective.

This experiment has revealed those who are loyal to their nation and people, as well as those who are slaves to foreigners, the conspirators, the traitors, the small, those who are against the nation, the peoples, and humanity.

Victory is forthcoming, near and is certain, God willing.

Al-Anbar province will be the crown of all provinces, the sword and shield, the high spear and their safeguard. Fallujah will be the essence of faith and virtue in this crown if they are not beaten first to greater acts other provinces in our great and dear Iraq. It is an honor to those who race to do this.

A greeting from us in your name, the people, to Anbar province and its people and especially to the jewel of that crown, Fallujah, and its people. A greeting to Iraq's cities.

Oh great people, at the orders of Washington, Tel Aviv and London, the occupation administration appointed a number of people who take orders from it on the basis of a repugnant division of great Iraq.

By doing this (appointing the council), the occupiers have revealed part of their intentions and plans to partition Iraq and what might happen later to the entire Arab world in light of their plans to harm the (Arab) nation and the Middle East region.

We are confident that our proud, struggling and great people, who rejected and resisted the occupation, will reject all orders of the colonialists and the plans of evil aggressors.

How can the people benefit from employees named by the foreign occupiers? What can those named by the foreign occupier offer to the people and the nation other than the will of the occupier? They are appointed by the will of the foreigners, therefore it is the servant of the foreigner and not a servant of the people.

You are one people, Sunnis or Shiites, Arab, Turkomen or Kurds, Muslim or Christian. Do not get troubled by what will distract you and insult your values. A loyal child of Iraq, when in power according to these values, will serve everyone regardless of what color he or his family is. He who is not loyal to his country, people or nation will not be loyal to any color of Iraq's people.

Beware of the enemy's plans and make them fail through decisive actions and values. Do not even talk about whether the benefits that each color or name, as referred to in the occupation order, are less or more than what they deserve.

The occupier has occupied in order to weaken Iraq and destroy its will, and therefore, anything issued by (the) occupation is to weaken Iraq. The only solution ... is a jihad (holy war) to resist the occupation and kick it out of Iraq.

Oh great people, the values for religion and country are clear. Toying with them (the values), especially with regards to the occupation, is a disgraceful position (for anyone) ... no matter their background is, whether they are religious men, or high society. Black and white are clear. The duty for jihad is clear. The wrongs of occupation and aggression are also clear. Any other talk has no basis, neither in religion or in honor. Do not let them deceive you in religion or honor. Do not let them deceive you and freeze your correct reaction (to the occupation), those warlocks and humbugs.

He who can do this (resist the occupation) ... and not sacrifice himself and his children for the Jihad to kick the invaders from Iraq, then God will judge these failures.
