Saudi Officials Condemn Terror Attacks

RIYADH, 24 May 2003 — Crown Prince Abdullah, deputy premier and commander of the National Guard, has received a flood of messages from Saudi officials and citizens in various parts of the country condemning last week’s terrorist bombings in Riyadh.

According to a report carried by the Saudi Press Agency yesterday, Saudis also expressed their allegiance to the Kingdom’s leadership and their readiness to sacrifice their lives for the sake of the country.

They also expressed their condolences over the victims of the attacks that killed 34 people including seven Saudis and seven Americans and injured nearly 200 others.

Prince Abdullah thanked the Saudis for their messages and commended their patriotic spirit. The crown prince has said the government will not show any mercy toward the perpetrators of the attacks and their supporters.

Officials who sent messages included Omar Al-Tuwaijeri, a judge at the high court in Alkhobar, Khaled Al-Otaibi, a judge at the court of grievances in Dammam, and Muhammad Al-Marshoud, director general of the Commission for the Promotion of Virtue and the Prevention of Vice in the Eastern Province.

They also included Ali ibn Hamad Hamrour, Ali Saleh Qumaish, chairman and secretary-general of the Najran Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and Abdullah Al-Bazie, chairman of the Tabuk chamber.
