U.S. Soldier Wounded In Iraq Convoy Attack Dies

By Gerry J. Gilmore WASHINGTON, Oct. 9, 2003 – An American soldier died from wounds received today during an insurgent attack north of Baghdad, according to a U.S. Central Command news release. The 4th Infantry Division soldier was with a convoy traveling close to Baqubah, the release stated, when insurgents mounted a rocket-propelled grenade attack. After evacuation to the 21st Combat Support Hospital for treatment, the stricken soldier died just hours after the attack, the release said. The soldier's name is being withheld pending notification of next of kin. |
